Venturer 2013 Year End Party (Dec 11)

This will be our last regular meeting for 2013 before we break for the holidays.  Regular meetings will begin again on January 8, 2014 at the Parkallen School.  We will be meeting at the Evangelical Fellowship Church (10511 - 79 Avenue) on December 11th starting at 6:30 PM.  We will be having an end of the 2013 year party, handing out badges, giving Venturers their "Vent Kar" kits to work on over the holiday break.

Venturer Skate (Dec 4)

This week Venturers will be donning their skates and showing everyone their mad skills on the ice.

**We will be meeting at the George S. Hughes Arena at 10525-72 Ave. we will be there for public skate from 6:30 to 7:30. To maximize the skate time feel free to show up before 6:30 to put your skates on.

Venturer Swim 2013 (Nov 27)

Venturers will be going for a swim this week at the Commonwealth Recreation Centre Pool (11000 Stadium Road, attached to the Commonwealth Stadium, home of the Edmonton Eskimos!!!!) starting at 6:30 PM. Please dress warm and bring change for the locker rental.

Winter Planning (Nov 20th)

Venturers will be meeting with their advisor this week to plan events for Winter and Fort Edmonton and Spring Thaw Camps.

Venturers Mystery Meeting

Venturers will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week. Your Advisor Scouter Krista advised that this meeting is a secret. Please dress in full uniform.

Investiture and Special Guest Speaker (Nov 6th)

Venturers will be meeting at the Parkallen School in full uniform this week as we will be inversting our new members and with Remembrance Day a week away we have a special guest speaker. There are many Brave Canadians that work to protect us and others around the world. This week one of these brave guys will be visiting us and talking about some of the things he does so we can enjoy our freedoms and help other people.

Halloween Party - Oct 30th

Prepared to be frightened and to have lots of fun this week at our annual Halloween Party.  Please dress up and try your best to scare the leaders.

Venturer - Investiture Prep (Oct 23rd)

Venturers this week have been working on a secret project for the Halloween Party next week.  We will also be working on our eVent Camp and investiture preparations.

Venturers Annual Fall Nature Walk (Oct 16th)

Venturers will be meeting at the Parkallen School this week to take part in our annual Fall Nature Walk through the Parkallen Neighbourhood. We will be delivering flyers for our upcoming Bottle Drive / Food Bank Drive taking place on October 19th. Please dress in uniform and dress for the weather.

Preparing for Halloween and eVent Camp 2013

Venturers will be meeting this week with their advisor to start planning our annual Halloween Party and getting ready for eVent Camp 2013.

No Meeting for Oct 2nd

There will be no meeting for the Venturers this week due to Fall Camp. WE will be back at the Parkallen School on Oct 9th.

Fall Camp Preparations - Sep 25th

Ventures will be meeting tonight to complete the prepartions for this year's Fall Camp and prepare next months activities for their section.

Venturers 2nd Meeting of the Year - Sep 18th

Venturers will be meeting at the Parkallen School Gym this week starting at 6:30 PM. Scouter Krista will be continuing working with the company in activity planning for the year. As a reminder, our Fall Camp is coming up fast (Sep 27 - 29th) at Camp Evansburg, more information about the camp will be available at next meeting.

First Venturers Meeting - September 11, 2013

Venturers are having their first meeting on September 11th from 6:30 PM to 7:50 PM at the Parkallen Elementary School Gym.

Venture Swim-Up, 2013 - April 24th

We will be meeting at Emily Murphy Park (11904 Emily Murphy Park Road NW) at the sheltered Picnic Site (on your left when you enter the park). We will be holding our Swim Up Ceremony and Volunteer Appreciation that evening. There will be plenty of food and fun for the whole family. The fun starts at 6:30 PM.

Last meeting for the 2012/2013 Year

Venturers will be meeting for the final regular meeting at the Parkallen School on April 17th.  WE have a fun and exciting night of games planned.

Fort Edmonton Camp 2013 - Prep

Venturers will be preparing for the upcoming Fort Edmonton Camp on May 3rd  to 5th this week.  The leaders and Venturers are planning a special program that will have the Scouts testing their scout knowledge and running from the undead!!!!!!!

2013 Spring Bottel Drive - Flyer Drop

Venturers will be meeting at the the Parkallen School this week to do deliver flyers for our upcoming Bottle Drive and Food Bank Drive on April 6th.  Please dress for the weather and wear your neckers.

March 20th - Sea Critter Night

Venturers, this week is Sea Critters Night. The lab on campus is room Z 211, this is on the second floor (main ground level) of the Biological Sciences Building (11 B4 on Map Below). Access is from the loading dock passage door on the West end of the building which enters into the Genetics wing (G), proceed east into the main elevator stair well area, if you continue east you end up in Centre Wing (CW), do not go there! From the stair well go north into the Zoology Wing (Z) and the lab is a few doors down. If you go too far you end up in the Psychology wing.

Re Parking, There is no long term legal parking by the loading dock, There are 15 minute meters and the University tickets a lot. Pay parking is available in Windsor car park, or the Faculty Club parking lot, or more expensive metered street parking on Saskatchewan Drive. The loading dock drive is off Saskatchewan Drive between the Bio Science building and the Faculty Club (Northeast corner of the University Campus).

March 6th - Skate Night

Youth Leadership

Last week the Venturers helped out in the different sections to learn how to become a leader in a specific section.  This week the Venturers will get the chance to lead a section on their activities.  We will be meeting at the Parkallen School Gym this week.

Being Youth Leaders

This week the Venturers will be assisting the Beaver Section Leaders at the Parkallen School.  This will include working on their craft skills, games and singing silly songs.  Venturers are reminded that they will need to complete their Wood Badge Level One training before the end of February.

Winter Camp - Continued

Venturers will be meeting at the Parkallen School to continue their work on planning their Winter Camp 2013.

This week the Venturers will be working with the Section Leaders to plan scouting events as part of the Wood Badge training at the Parkallen School.

Venturers will be helping out with the other section this week to continue their training as junior leaders.

The Secret Meeting

Venturers have been consripted to help in the secret meeting our Beaver Leaders are planning.  We will be meeting at the Parkallen School early.

Venturers will be meeting back at the Parkallen School Gym on January 9th at 6:30 PM to kick off the second half of our Scouting Year.
